a perfect moment

Five people drove over the big bridge.
The sun was struggling against the clouds. You could see that far away, northern behind the Dom, rain was pouring down.
U2 was singing 'Beautyful Day' in the backround, and the city was pulsating before them.
In the back on the left sat Fuchs, and she desperately wanted to raise her hands to the sky.
But the car wasn't a Cabriolet, so she just had to sit and listen.

Every one of the five young women knew how beautyful this was. They even talked about it.
And then they didn't talk at all for a minute or two.

Fünf Leutz fuhren über die große Brücke.
Die Sonne kämpfte gegen die Wolken. Weit hinten, im Norden hinter dem Dom, konnte man sehen, wie der Regen fiel.
U2 sang 'Beautyful Day' im Hintergrund, udn die Stadt pulsierte vor ihnen.
Hinten links saß Fuchs, und sie wollte so gerne ihre Arme gen Himmel hochreißen.
Aber der Wagen war leider kein Cabriolet, also konnte sie nur dasitzen und lauschen.

Und jede einzelne dieser fünf jungen Frauen wußte ganz genau, wie schön das war. Sie sprachen es sogar an.
Und dann schwiegen sie ein oder zwei Minuten.

Your writing is a lot more powerful in your own language, you know that? Of course, that sort of figures. I may not be THAT fluent at German despite the fact I've already had it for five years.. but there's definitely a difference. Somehow the translation of your German into English makes it lose some sort of.. emotional content. I don't know. It just seems to me that in German your words sound a lot more poetic and stronger. ^_^
Maybe I'm just weird. XD

Ach Fuchs, wenn ich das gewusst hätte, hätte ich natürlich den Corsa mit dem Riesenschiebedach gekauft damals... *seufz* Aber immerhin beruhigend, dass die Fahrt nicht nur Quälerei war...
