Okay, go to the fuchs-LJaccount. Tell me, will this user EVER use this account?

LJsupport seems to think so:
"...there is no way to make an exception to the rules regarding seemingly abandoned
accounts. LiveJournal policy on abandoned accounts exists to protect your journals as
well as everyone elses. If you were suddenly without internet access for an extended
period of time, then you would want to know that your journal would be safe until you
could access it again."

So the name is out of the question. Wanna hear my opinion?

Yeah, they're really stubborn (and maybe also stupid) in cases like that. The chance the user is ever going to use it is sooo slim that it's close to non-existant. Still. There is a chance. It's stupid. =)

Scheint jedenfalls dieselbe Person zu sein, die hier http://lists.musicbrainz.org/pipermail/musicbrainz-style/2005-July/000285.html was geschrieben hat. Jedenfalls passt der Name und er nennt sich auch 'Fuchs'. Scheint im übrigen auch deutschsprachig zu sein, wenn ich einige andere Suchergebnisse zu dem Namen richtig interpretiere.

Vielleicht ist er ja bereit sein LJ freizugeben... im schlechtesten Fall fängt er tatsächlich an es zu nutzen... oder will Geld dafür sehen.

Ich kann mich teylen nur anschließen... ehrlich gesagt hab ich vor, eh, zwei Jahren oder so mal versucht den Menschen zu erreichen (eMails geschrieben), hab aber nie ne Antwort bekommen.
Vielleicht willst du ja jetzt noch mal dein Glück versuchen. Versuchs mit:

Meine Güte, als "Früheinsteiger", also "Early adopter" oder "Early User" oder wie das hieß, müßte er schon... *Grübel* ... also schon ewig - auf jeden fall länger als ich - da sein. Und in der ganzen Zeit nicht gepostet?

Und DA ist LJ nicht bereit, den Account freizugeben?

Na ja - ich habe meinen anderen Account z.Z. auch auf Eis liegen, aber trotzdem würde ich den Usernamen nicht wieder hergeben. Man kann nicht wissen, warum der User dort nichts postet - also reg' dich am Besten nicht auf. ;-) Ich kann zwar verstehen, daß du den Namen gerne hättest und die über die (scheinbare) Nicht-Nutzung ärgerst, aber wer weiß, ob der andere "Fuchs" nicht aus irgendeinem Grunde daran hängt?

P.S.: Andere Frage - heißt "0 Entries" in jedem Fall, daß nichts drinsteht, oder vielleicht nur, daß es keinerlei öffentliche Einträge gibt? Wenn das der Fall wäre, könnte es ja sein, daß der Bursche das ganze als privates Tagebuch statt als Mitteilungs-Plattform nutzt und hunderte von Privateinträgen da herumliegen hat, die nur keiner zu Gesicht bekommt... ;-)

So - ich hab' mir mal den Spaß gemacht, alle Wulfila-Einträge auf privat zu stellen, und während ich keine Lust habe, auch noch das Design zu ändern und zu gucken, ob wirklich bei anderem Design "0" dort stünde, muß ich doch sagen - die Seite sieht leer aus... ;-)

Private entries werden normalerweise dabei mitgezählt. Mal abgesehen davon hat er ja nicht mal die livejournalsche Umlautverschiebung mitbekommen.

I'm gonna be the one disagreeing with what everybody else said so far.

I can understand that they have this rule, and will not make an exception for anyone, because otherwise, everybody and their mother will come running and ask for this and that name released.

Oh, of course. It totally makes sense, and after having worked in support for a while, it makes even more sense. But still, in cases like this it's kinda apparent. They could at least send out emails saying "are you still using this?" after four (!) years and more of negligence. Other webpages constantly send me mails saying "if you don't log in within the next month or so, we're going to delete you, since you haven't logged in for a whole year" and that's totally fair.

If they'd done that from the beginning, okay. But from early on, they always said "we will never ever delete your journal".

They can't just change the rules after so many years without pissing a lot of people of. And the issue is obviously not pressing enough to risk that.

Yeah, that's sadly very true. I do understand why this rule exists. It's just that I know that they already *made* exceptions.
I guess it's bad luck for me that there weren't more people snagging good short usernames that they never ever used again.
I whined about this four years ago and I'll probably do so again four years from now. When he still won't have used it.
Anyway, I chose another name for now.
