... Brad leaves.
About Brad leaving: Read here.
Apparently it doesn't have much to do with recent drama, but it's another blow for me. Of course it's getting too boring for him, completely understandable, and I wish him the best of luck. But I trusted Brad personally, heck, I *met* the guy. 6A? Not so much. Especially when
a Livejournal employee publicly puts all fans in one box with pedophiles
as can be seen here in detail.
Mind you, he was only letting off steam, kind of roleplaying, but that really only drives home the point that fiction =/= reality, on which
gmth comments here.
And anyway, the point that really disturbs me is that the recently TOSed members where found guilty because of relatively normal gay porn in *locked posts*, as one of the two biggest cases states here.
A few days ago I talked about what happened and obviously failed to be clear about it. I earned the comment: 'Well, when it's about child pornography, I am all for a no tolerance attitude.'
That's the frigging point. It's not about child pornography. It's not about children. It *was* about gay porn being put into the same box as that. By now it's about attitude in general.
They don't even answer us! Can I post a picture of me skinny dipping? Kissing someone? Could I post an artistic photography of a penis? A totally not artistic but sexy as hell drawing of two people having sex? What about three? Would locked be okay? What do you mean, not when it's "obscene"? I mean, Great Darkness, they TOSed people for breast feeding pictures. I don't want to be censored like that. Particularly not in my journal. I thought locking, cutting and putting up warnings would suffice, for that is what you need to shield innocent eyes. Apparently it's not that easy.
And they don't warn you, and they don't let you backup anything.
And now? The more time flies by without ANY WORD from LJ/6A, the more anxious I get. I don't wanna leave. But I will not blog in fear of being measured with that kind of gauge.

Date: 2007-08-07 05:40 pm (UTC)LJ became big, really big; and Brad wasn't a corporate manager. He's a programmer. A damn good one, but not a manager. All the administration and management tired him out, he wanted to tinker with the code, not all that hassle. And as the site grew bigger and bigger, there was a real need for some professionals. (Since LJ was previously run by volunteers and donations!)
Unfortunately these 'professionals' turned out to be SixApart who, so far, haven't proven to be that professional. At least not in their customer service.
Under 6A's management, LJ is being re-organized. They want to make it profitable, since it's a business, not a charity. And what is profitable, anyway? Gee, let's think, what are the biggest most popular social networking sites at the moment...
MySpace.
YouTube.
That's right... we're on the highway to doom.
