Arrakis / Dune

Well. How humbling.
I just read all Wikipedia entries to Dune.

I read Dune when I was fifteen, all six books in two weeks of french, white lakes and cirrus clouds. I fell deep into this world, emerged only very slowly and never went back again.
Or so I thought.
Now I see a gentle young boy again, sacrificing himself to a lonely eternity, recreating his always dying companion and only friend time and time again, because he saw the futures and has to secure the only one in which humanity survives.
Worlds upon worlds with religions and wisdom, the biggest danger in form of sentient machines, and a Human Imperium whose primary goal is to stay stable and SECURE, which would ultimately destroy it, if it weren't for said immortal boy mixing adventure and expansion into humanity.
Great GOD, how humbling.
Right, so nearly nothing in Traidis is truly mine. Herbert, Shakespeare and Zimmer-Bradley did it all before.
But, well, at least I mix it in a new way.

Strange to read all that, like finding an old, lost childhood friend.

I don't think I really understood what Leto II was all about, but it was SO impressive nonetheless.

I've seen nothing but the old movie, maybe I should, though. :D

Yeah, all this massive history, and everything is just so conclusive! I read only the original two trilogies, though.
And the names! God, I could fangirl for hours just about the names of people, places, technologies, things, times...

And LOL @ "Dama"

*fan-defensiveness engage!*

It was Hesterion, actually.

gomen, gomen! ^^

Meant no harm to fan-territory. Just still have to giggle about that moment of silence after introducing her, no matter how good that name fits into Herbert's universe.
Phonetics don't like me.

Watch this trailer and dare tell me you don't want to see the series! (http://www.liberatedfilms.com/film-14421-Children%20of%20Dune%20-%20US%20Home%20Video%20Trailer)

Wah, it's giving me goosebumps just seeing it again...

Fun fact: the guy who played Mr Tumnus, the Faun, in Chronicles of Narnia is the same actor who plays Leto II.

I've read all the originals, the three Preludes and the two books of the series about the Butlerian Jihad; but they got worse and worse after the Preludes. I would say the Preludes are still very doable, the story of Ix really pulled me in. But don't get started on the older ones - those will ruin everything. :\

And yes, god, the names!! I know what you mean! I'm a name freak myself, not in the least because I'm synaestethic. If a name has good colors, good harmony...

I have faced this trailer.
